Microsoft has been working hard on what Windows can offer gamers for a while now and the results have been good. Windows has built-in streaming capabilities as well as its very own Windows “Game Mode”, which automatically optimises PCs for gameplay. Now, the software giant has included another gamer-focused feature into a preview build of its flagship operating system. The preview build is available to the members of the Windows Insider Program.
Preview Build 2216 brings with it a new controller bar that offers gamers that play with Xbox controllers an easy way to access a limited view of the impressively-featured Xbox Game Bar.
The new controller bar will show the last 3 games you have played and will be a simple button press away. All you have to do to invoke the controller bar is hit the Xbox button on the controller whenever you are not playing a game. If you hit the button while you are playing a game you will bring up the normal Game Bar, complete with all its regular features.
This new feature might not seem like a big deal but it is a further step towards aligning the gaming experience Microsoft is able to offer gamers on both Windows PCs and its Xbox platform.
It is important to remember here that this is still just a preview build, so you likely won’t have access to it just yet. If you use an Xbox controller to play games on your Windows PC and are interested in trying it, however, Microsoft has put together detailed instructions showing you how to access it. Be careful though as these early test versions often come with bugs as the purpose of the test is to discover potential problems so that they can be ironed out before the updates receive a wider rollout.
