Microsoft has fixed the screen flickering issue affecting Windows 11

Microsoft’s latest flagship PC operating system, hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire. Windows 11’s popularity and uptake has been slowing down recently. Windows 10 remains popular among Windows users and the Windows 11 launch hasn’t exactly been a smooth one with issues affecting key features such as Windows Defender. Even updates themselves, designed to improve usability, have been causing problems with a recent update breaking the Windows safe Mode, used by so many to help fix problems they come up against. Well, here at least there is some good news for the ailing flagship OS.

One thing that Windows 11 does have going for it is an engaged user community always on the lookout for features that need improving or fixing. This is why the Safe Mode flickering problem that made it unusable when users clicked the Start Menu, File Explorer or Task Bar was so quickly picked up and reported on the Windows 11 Feedback Hub.

Microsoft has released an Issue Details document outlining that the problem relates to the “Safe Mode without Networking” option. This means that the workaround for the problem is to only activate “Safe Mode with Networking”.

The good news, however, is that Microsoft is rolling out a fix, or maybe we should say rolling back a fix. The software giant has initiated a Known Issue Rollback (KIR), to address the issue. The company says that users should allow for up to 24 hours to receive the update and that a system restart may help to resolve the issue sooner.

When Microsoft launched Windows 10 it told us that it would be the last operating system we’d ever need on our PCs. We were assured that the software giant would continuously update windows 10 keeping us safe from online threats and up to speed with all the latest innovations and features.
